ESSAY ON: The Fundamentals And Evolution Of Psychoanalysis

Number of Pages 15

This research paper: 15 pages in length. The 1940s and 1950s ushered in medical options for treating psychological disorders, many of which proved to abate symptoms but not cure the problem. Still, these pharmaceutical offerings proved a saving grace for those whose ability to function within society was greatly augmented by popping an antipsychotic pill. This time frame - a mere decade after Freud's death - illustrates how psychoanalysis often took a back seat to the easier, quicker fix of drug therapy. As the discipline of psychology gained momentum in its own right, however, so too did the distinction of psychoanalysis as not only a viable but ultimately core element by treating people through therapy. Bibliography lists 16 sources.
