This research paper: This 4 page report discusses “Cloudy Day,” a poem by Jimmy Santiago Baca. “Cloudy Day” is the simple telling of a windy, cloudy day in a prison yard. Baca juxtaposes the sense of wind, freedom, and nature with the harsh reality of prison. It is a startling poem in that there is little that is dark or constrained in it despite taking place in a prison yard. Instead, it is surprises the reader that the poet believes he has “everything” under circumstances by which most people would assume he had nothing at all. Bibliography lists 2 sources.
