ESSAY ON: Lincoln And Sumner: Equality

Number of Pages 5

This research paper: 5 pages in length. Historical documentation has poised Abraham Lincoln as one of the greatest civil liberators of America's heritage, a legacy of equality the nation's sixteenth president left his countrymen that ultimately included those with darker skin. William Graham Sumner left a legacy as well in relation to equality after he closely scrutinized the existence of and impact from America's clearly defined separation of class, a reality he argues as being the forthright reason why there has never been - and will never be - the kind of equality that defines fairness. While both men approach the concept of equality with a common denominator of being able to forge one's own path through emancipation from oppressive restraints, each has quite a different perspective on what those restraints represent, where they originate and how they impact the true quest for equality. Bibliography lists 2 sources.
