ESSAY ON: Nursing Intervention for Family Violence

Number of Pages 9

This research paper: A 9 page paper discussing issues affecting nurses’ ability to intervene in domestic violence issues. As those who are trained in physical needs and spend the greatest amount of time in direct contact with patients, nurses occupy perhaps the best associated position from which to intervene in domestic violence. There are barriers of course, but the emergence of forensic nursing is helping to lessen those barriers. Nurses in all areas of healthcare can develop greater awareness to the signs of abuse. There still is a fine ethical line in that nurses cannot blatantly violate confidentiality. Nurses can, however, become proficient at collecting samples, taking notes and asking the right questions of the right people, always keeping the good of the patient as the uppermost goal. Bibliography lists 9 sources.
