This research paper: A 15 page analysis of Hannah Arendt's Between Past and Future. According to Arendt, the beginnings of Western thought began specifically in Plato's allegory of the cave, from The Republic. This compelling allegory was designed by Plato as the basis for his argument that society should be ruled by the king-philosopher, the man who had the knowledge to rule wisely based on his knowledge of philosophy. In Between Past and Future, Arendt explores the ramifications of what Plato says happened once the enlightened man reenters the cave, which is, of course, ordinary human society.
