This research paper: A 3 page paper reviewing changes in public education spending in the US between 1919 and 2001. Per-student spending in adjusted dollars (to 2001) has increased nearly 16 times over the 1919-20 amount and by a third in the modern era of technology; it would seem that we could expect more impressive results in outcome than we currently enjoy. Many other factors enter into spending today, however, including educating a greater percentage of America's school-age children than in the past and providing bilingual and special education to children who were excluded from public education in decades past. Bibliography lists 3 sources.
