This research paper: A 9 page paper discussing The Gap's ongoing struggle against negative publicity arising from accusations of using Asian and Central American sweatshop labor and China's government's lack of concern for individual workers as that nation shifts from a command to a market economy. Much is written and discussed about the issue of human rights, particularly in the dichotomy of perspective that so often exists between East and West. There is no argument that Asian workers share a strong work ethic and are willing to work in virtually any setting. Where the argument lies is in how companies in developed nations should use their efforts. The purpose here is to research what types of conditions exist and then to evaluate at least two cases.
