ESSAY ON: Women, Judaism And Anti-Semitism

Number of Pages 6

This research paper: 6 pages in length. Anti-Semitism is expressed in many forms and by many different people with the common denominator being discriminatory, disparaging and/or hostile attitudes toward Jews. While the typical understanding of anti-Semitism is most reflected as intolerance from people outside Jewry, most do not consider how Judaism has a history of discrimination against its own people - women. Therefore, the inferior status of women happened because of internal anti-Semitic attitudes that involved gender bias and not because of social or political tenets. If Jews had followed their own teachings, they would have recognized the inherent value of women rather than imposing harsh discrimination upon the very people who nurtured their children and tended to their husbands. Bibliography lists 8 sources.
