ESSAY ON: The E-Supply Chain and the SME

Number of Pages 19

This research paper: A 19 page paper discussing small- and medium-sized enterprises' ability to realize the benefits of supply chain management in the electronic environment. Intuitively, it appears that SMEs likely have greater difficulty in moving to the e-business supply chain model than do their larger counterparts. The purpose here is to assess the statement, "full migration to the e-supply chain platform might not be feasible due to resource constraints and other considerations." The paper concludes that SMEs formerly were at great disadvantage when greater divides between information capabilities existed. As organizations of all sizes migrate toward the same kinds of hardware systems that differ mostly in size rather than ability, SMEs' ability to use and profit from streamlined supply chain management in the electronic environment has increased dramatically. Bibliography lists 25 sources. Includes an abstract.
