This research paper: This 16 page report discusses the Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI), more commonly referred to as “Star Wars.” The administration of U.S. President Ronald Reagan envisioned a program for a missile-defense shield, based in outer space that was supposed to be able to render nuclear weapons obsolete. SDI, implemented or not, meant decisions would have to be made that would most certainly affect the future of the world. Although SDI-Star Wars never went beyond a rudimentary testing stage, it changed the strategic-arms debate in ways favorable to the United States. Bibliography lists 11 sources.
