ESSAY ON: Philosophy And Skepticism

Number of Pages 5

This research paper: 5 pages in length. Stoic philosophy incorporated a number of beliefs pertaining to logic, physics and ethics that comprised their very existence, a reality that varied considerably from that of the Epicureans. Determinism was the mantra for Stoicism, however it was a guided path provided by intelligence instead of mechanics. Because Stoicism was bound by right and wrong with no middle ground in between, it stood to reason how those who were born of wisdom were privileged to inherit righteousness; for those without benefit of knowledge and good judgment, they were always to be inferior. To the contrary, Epicurus espoused a life of choice that is derived from one's fearlessness of death and the gods, as well as keeping desires in check; moreover, this pursuit of pleasure is not realized by virtue of some whim of fate but rather is a compilation of the decisions one makes in relation to one's life. Bibliography lists 2 sources.
