This research paper: 5 pages in length. Some states across the country have moved to a twenty-five-year driver's license whereby people are legally allowed to travel the roads for a quarter of a century without refreshing their driving skills, getting their eyes checked or even taking a written review. At least one state, however, mandates the driver's picture be retaken after ten years (Arizona). Given the scope of responsibility inherent to operating a motor vehicle, it seems illogical and quite dangerous to allow people on the road without knowing how their skills have deteriorated. This analogy applies to the concept of tenure, as well, which by all accounts locks in a teacher's place along the academic gravy train yet does not monitor the value of instruction being dispensed. Bibliography lists 5 sources.
