This research paper: A 5 page discussion of the mental and environmental factors which determine the specifics of grammar. Asserts that there are differences between the external considerations of grammar and the internal. The mental processes which occur in regard to our linguistic skills can vary dramatically from our capacity for oral language itself and the exact characteristics of that language. Concludes that it is most likely that certain component of grammar are indeed innate but that the refinement of that grammar, the refinement which results in a specific language or dialect, occurs in response to environmental stimuli.
