This research paper: Plato's Theory of Forms outlined in a number of his dialogues including 'The Republic' and 'Parmenides,' is based in the perception of knowledge and the limitations of the senses. Plato recognized that man is limited by his sensory perception in an understanding of the natural of the world around him, and as a result, proposed the Theory of Forms in its initial sense to reflect a more complete understanding of the essential nature of the world based outside of the sensory and in the rational. Wittgenstein, in 'Notion of Truth' also considers the comparison between the actual and the perceived, and evaluates truth both as a component of basic understanding and an element directly correlated to the physical world. This 6 page paper reflects these concepts and provides support for components of both philosophers' arguments through the texts they created. Bibliography lists 4 sources.
