This research paper: A 13 page paper discussing the growing importance of human resources information systems (HRIS). Management of human resources has expanded far beyond the old recordkeeping responsibilities. While that is still a critical portion of HRM, HR has been charged with contributing to the organization's competitive advantage by planning for future personnel needs and then training existing workers to fill future roles. Information systems has contributed to that evolution of HRM. Information systems enhance the ability of smaller companies to offer the same HR services and provide employees with the same level of service expected in large organizations, while simultaneously positively contributing to the organization's competitive advantage as it depends on the organization's workforce. Bibliography lists 20 sources.
