ESSAY ON: Comparing Atomist and Platonist Thinking and Philosophy

Number of Pages 10

This research paper: This 10 page report discusses the differences between the Atomists and the Platonists of ancient Greece. According to the atomic theory of matter, all things are composed of minute, invisible, indestructible particles of pure matter (atoma, “indivisibles”), which move about eternally in infinite empty space (kenon, “the void”). Pleasure and happiness are the highest good for the atomists because when the body dies, the soul dissolves. Platonists are concerned with the nature of the soul and self-examination. Bibliography lists 4 sources.
