ESSAY ON: The Intensity of the Black Revolutionary Struggle in the 1960s in Regards to the Political Writers and Activists of the Time

Number of Pages 5

This research paper: This is a 5 page paper discussing the black revolutionary movement in the 1960s as more intense than the struggle today. The black revolutionary movement that existed during the 1960s Civil Rights struggle has been said to have diminished greatly over the years. Writers, orators and activists such as Malcolm X and H. Rap Brown spoke so intensely during their time that Malcolm X was assassinated and Brown was later jailed for their controversial activities. Critics today believe that the black revolutionary movement has “all but vanished from the earth” and cite the intensity of the works of Malcolm X and Brown as examples of the determination which was felt throughout the 1960s and which no longer exists today. In addition to the writings of the political and social leaders of the time, literary scholars such as Diane Oliver wrote short stories which commented on the effect of the civil rights movement on citizens; a genre which is still continued somewhat in modern social writing but does not contain the intensity of the social movements of the 1960s. Bibliography lists 10 sources.
