ESSAY ON: Perceptions on The Islamic Practice of Veiling: Relevance to the Quest for Women’s Rights

Number of Pages 15

This research paper: A 15 page discussion of how the practice of veiling has varied over time and culture. The author contends that the Islamic custom of veiling is irrelevant to the central issue of women’s rights. To concentrate on this practice only results in a distraction from the real problems of women’s access to education and health care; the dire poverty which characterizes more and more Islamic families; practices such as honor killings and genital mutilation; and other real issues which need to be confronted regarded the rights of Islamic women. Bibliography lists 11 sources.
