This research paper: This 5 page report discusses the famous Declaration of Independence that proclaimed the independence of the 13 British colonies in North America and was adopted by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776. The declaration lists the complaints of the colonists against the British monarchy and declared that the colonies were to be a free and independent entity. It was truly a revolutionary document but it was not necessarily a democratic document. It also served to inspire the Declaration of Sentiments of 1948 which is briefly discussed in the paper.
