This research paper: 3 pages in length. Langston Hughes' poem "Mother to Son" is a short yet powerful message of courage and persistence in the face of constant adversity. The mother sees her son faltering in his desire to push forward to the future when he has already endured so much struggle. She uses a most appropriate method for boosting his attitude by telling him just how difficult life has been for her - sometimes to the point of wanting to give up entirely - and how she has found the strength to continue no matter how bad things became.
