ESSAY ON: Mary Pipher/Another Country

Number of Pages 6

This research paper: A 6 page book review that discusses Mary Pipher's book Another Country, Navigating the Emotional Terrain of Our Elders, focusing on the dichotomies that exist between the baby boomer generation, i.e., the generation born after World War II, and their parents, that is, those individuals who were born just prior to or during the Great Depression and fought in World War II and Korea. Using primarily case studies that are drawn from her practice as a psychologist, Pipher offers insight into the ways in which baby boomers are coping with their relations with their parents, who have reached advanced old age, developing themes that demonstrate the emotional and psychological needs of both generations. This examination of Pipher's book focuses on five of these themes that are presented in this text, which address intergenerational relations and communication between the generations. Bibliography lists 7 sources.
