ESSAY ON: Rudyard Kipling's "The White Man's Burden": Imperialism

Number of Pages 6

This research paper: 6 pages in length. The reason why conflict has long existed over the meaning of Rudyard Kipling's controversial The White Man's Burden is because both sides of the imperialism battle heedlessly believed the poet was supporting its position. Upon closer scrutiny, however, and examination with an unbiased perspective, it becomes easy to see that Kipling was embedding a sharply satirical attitude to what appeared to be anti-imperialistic support but was actually provocation in support of imperialism. Bibliography lists 4 sources.
