ESSAY ON: BREASTFEEDING IN THE WORKPLACE

Number of Pages 14

This research paper: 14 pages in length. When the concepts of 'choice' and 'need' are pitted against each other in the debate over breastfeeding in the workplace, the winner has historically favored how it is a woman's choice to have a child and therefore her employer is not inclined to accommodate her special needs. The tide has shifted, however, over the past number of years in the direction of legally supporting the need to recognize the interconnectedness of family and work as they relate to socioeconomic and political elements. Current legislation has made companies responsible for adapting to the needs of women who choose to return to work while still breastfeeding as a statement of moral, political, social and economic importance. Bibliography lists 10 sources.
