Students who wish to attend university have to obtain the required pre-university diplomas relevant to their vocational or professional university programs. While the tuition fees for Dutch students are approximately 1,400 Euro in addition to high living costs, financial assistance programs such as scholarships, grants and fellowships are available. Students wishing to become Registered Accountants in the Netherlands can do so in a number of different ways depending on whether or not they enter the program with or without a previous professional degree. Students with professional business degrees can take the accountancy course part-time through the NIvRA/Nijenrode University Accounting and Auditing program. Accountancy as a professional program itself takes 7 ½ years through the NIvRA/Nijenrode University route; the most common and preferred training program for accountants as it integrates theoretical and the needed practical experience required for certification in the Royal NIvRA. Bibliography lists 8 sources.
